Bernadette A. Susvilla EdD, CESO V, the Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) of Bais City, is a testament to dedication, perseverance, and exemplary public service. Her inspiring leadership journey began in the classroom as a teacher and has since progressed through various positions within the Department of Education (DepEd).
Fondly known as “Ma’am Adette,” she started her career as a classroom teacher and steadily climbed the ranks in her hometown of Bogo City, Cebu. Throughout her years of service, she held various key positions in the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Bogo City. Although her plantilla position was Principal II, she capably served in numerous capacities, including Executive Assistant, Administrative Officer, Records Personnel, and Human Resource personnel, among others. These diverse experiences helped shape her comprehensive understanding of educational management and public administration.
Her competence and commitment eventually led to her appointment as an Education Program Supervisor. Later, she became a Career Executive Service Officer (CESO) while serving in the SDO Bogo City. She was subsequently appointed as Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) and later served briefly as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) SDS in her hometown division.
Ma’am Adette was then transferred to the SDO Danao City, Cebu, where she continued her service as ASDS. Her leadership journey further brought her to Cebu City, where she served in the SDO of the Queen City of the South. Upon the retirement of the incumbent SDS, she was designated as OIC of the SDO Cebu City.
In April 2025, she was reassigned as Officer-in-Charge of the SDO Bais City, succeeding Mr. Adlof Aguilar. Her vast experience and proven leadership continue to guide the division toward excellence and innovation in education.
On October 5, 2024, Ma’am Adette was promoted to the position of Schools Division Superintendent, a milestone that reflected her dedication, competence, and years of distinguished service in the Department of Education. She was later conferred the rank of CESO V, further affirming her commitment to excellence in public service and educational leadership.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ma’am Adette is known for her warm personality and passion for life. She is an avid animal lover and a proud plantita, finding joy in caring for pets and nurturing plants. These interests reflect her nurturing characterโa quality that has endeared her to colleagues, employees, and stakeholders throughout her career.
Today, Ma’am Adette continues to inspire educators and learners alike through her servant leadership, unwavering commitment to quality education, and genuine care for the people she serves. – DIO
